One of the most common questions before an Arizona off-road adventure is simple: What should I wear?

Arizona is known for sunshine and warm weather, but temperatures in the desert can change dramatically depending on the season—and even between the beginning and end of your tour.

At Desert Monsters Tours, you’ll be driving through the Sonoran Desert on rugged trails, so the goal is to dress comfortably, protect yourself from the elements and be ready to get a little dusty.

Here’s what we recommend throughout the year.

Spring: Comfortable Layers Are Your Friend

Spring is one of the most beautiful times to explore the Arizona desert. Days can be warm and sunny while mornings may still feel cool.

For a spring ATV tour, consider:

• Comfortable T-shirt or lightweight long-sleeve shirt

• Shorts or lightweight pants

• Closed-toe shoes

• Sunglasses

• Light sweatshirt or jacket for cooler morning tours

If you're taking an early morning or sunset tour, having an extra layer can make a big difference.

Summer: Keep It Lightweight

There’s no getting around it—Arizona summers are hot.

Lightweight, breathable clothing is your best option. Athletic clothing works especially well because it's comfortable and easy to move around in.

Summer is also when our sunset tours really shine. As the sun begins dropping behind the mountains, temperatures start coming down and the desert takes on an entirely different look.

Fall: One of the Best Times to Hit the Trails

Fall brings beautiful weather back to the Sonoran Desert, making it a fantastic time for an off-road adventure.

During the day, shorts and a T-shirt may be perfect. For morning and sunset tours, however, you may want a light jacket or sweatshirt.

Layering is always a good idea because desert temperatures can change quickly once the sun gets lower.

Winter: Yes, Arizona Gets Cold!

Visitors are sometimes surprised by how chilly the Arizona desert can feel during winter-especially first thing in the morning.

For winter tours, we recommend:

• Long pants

• Closed-toe shoes

• Long-sleeve shirt

• Sweatshirt or jacket

• Extra layer for particularly cool mornings

Remember that you'll be driving an open-air side-by-side, so the moving air can make it feel colder than the actual temperature.

By afternoon, you may be ready to shed a layer as the Arizona sunshine warms things up.
